Translation
Multilingual websites, information brochures, product data sheets, documents, technical manuals, videogame interfaces, presentations, press statements. I translate texts of any type from English to Italian and from Spanish to Italian.
I routinely use CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio, OmegaT, Memsource) to optimise the process and the quality of my translations. Assisted translation software is particularly useful for maintaining terminological consistency and speeding up the work, thanks to the translation memories built up over time in each specific field.
Each translationSProvenzale translation is not just a simple word for word translation but always involves cultural adaptation for the target audience. However, in some spheres, like marketing, advertising or creative contexts like art, music or film, cultural adaptation is crucial, and the work of translation really becomes localisation and transcreation, where the focus moves from the intelligibility of the words to the desired effect on the reader.
Localisation
With localisation I adapt the content to the particular characteristics of the territorial context in which it will operate: words, specific techniques, organisation of the information, possibly references to local celebrations, events and traditions. I undertake such adaptation aimed both at the reader and, in SEO terms, at search engines.
Transcreation
When I speak of transcreation, I mean an even more advanced form of translation, let’s call it creative translation. In some cases an intelligible, correct, professional translation is not sufficient: linguistic skills have to embrace creativity in order to adapt content that is full of nuance, word play, or strategic messages in order to present the same tone of voice, the spirit and the scope of the original message in the language and culture of the target country.
